Vose & Son is established.
1789
Founded by Isaac Vose, it is originally a furniture shop on Washington Street (then Orange Street). Subsequently Vose & Coates and then Vose, Coates & Company, it becomes one of the premiere cabinetmaking shops in the Colonies and continues in operation for two years after Vose’s death when it is purchased by Thomas Emmons in 1825.
